Class 1:    Irish Draught mare approved as Class 1 or 2 in the Irish Draught Studbook with foal at foot
Class 2:   Barren or Stinted Irish Draught Mare Four Years Old and over - approved as Class 1 or 2 in The Irish Draught Studbook. Classes 1 and 2 may be amalgamated if there are insufficient entries.
Class 3:   Best Foal Colt or Filly out of Mare in above class eligible for approval as Class 1 in the Irish Draught Studbook
Class 4:   Best One or Two year old Irish Draught Filly eligible for approval
as Class 1 in the Irish Draught Studbook
Class 5:   Best Three year old Irish Draught Filly eligible for approval as Class 1 in the Irish Draught Studbook
Class 6:   Best One, Two or Three year old Irish Draught Colt or Gelding eligible for approval as Class 1 or 2 in the Irish Draught Stud Book
Champion Irish Draught of the Show - open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 1 - 6

Champion Shetland Pony - open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 21 - 23

Class 24:  Registered Yearling - Two Year Old or Three Year Old Gelding
Class 25:  Registered Filly Yearling- Two Year Old or Three Year Old

Class 27:  Colt or Filly Foal must be produce of class 16
Class 28:  Ridden Connemara Pony -open to a rider any age

Champion Connemara Pony - open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 24 – 28

                                               Pure Bred Welsh In-Hand Section
All In Hand exhibits to be shown in bridle and handled by persons over 16 Years Old
Class 29:  Welsh Mountain Pony Section A - not to exceed 122cms at the maturity for any age and any sex to be led in hand
Class 30:  Welsh Section B Pony - not to exceed 138cms at maturity for any age / any sex to be led in hand
Class 31:  Welsh cobs Sections C and D - Section C not to exceed 138cms at maturity for any age / any sex to be led in hand

                                                   Pure Bred Welsh Ridden Section
Class 32:  Pure Bred Lead Rein Class for Mares and Gelding Four Years Old   and over not exceeding 122cms - Riders must not to have reached their 9th birthday on the 1st of January 2016. Riders in the class may not compete in any other class with exception of any other L.R. Class or First Ridden at this show.
Class 33:  Pure Bred First Ridden - for Mares and Geldings, Four Years Old   and over not  exceeding 128cms. Riders in this class should not have attained their 12th birthday as of the 1st of January 2016
Class 34:  Pure Bred Ridden for Mares, Geldings and Stallions in any of the   four sections - Mares and Geldings to be ridden by Riders of any age - Stallions in these Classes must be ridden by Riders who have attained 14th birthday on the 1st January 2016 - Permission must be obtained from IAWPC before showing a Stallion.

Champion Welsh Pony - open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 29 - 34
Class 35:  Mountain and Moorland - any native breed (excluding those breeds previously judged) this class is for ponies not to exceed 138cms
Class 36:  Mountain and Moorland - any native breed (excluding those breeds previously judged) this class is for ponies exceeding 138cms. Champion other Breed Mountain and Moorland Pony - open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 35 - 36

  • Classes 35 and 36 are for any native breed other than those previously judged at Oldcastle Show, namely Shetland, Welsh and Connemara as they have already been judged. It would be open to Kerry Bog Pony, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Eriskay, Dales, Fell, New Forest, Galloway or Highland ponies, the other native breeds that make up the Mountain and Moorland breeds.

Champion Mountain and Moorland Pony - open to the Champions and Reserve Champions in the Shetland, Connemara, Welsh and Other Mountain and Moorland Breed Championships)

Class 40:  Hunter Pony 14 H (143cms) to 15 H (153cms) Riders under 20 Years of Age on 01/01/2016
Class 41: Hunter Pony 13 H (133cms) to 14 H (143cms) Riders under 17 Years of Age on 01/01/2016
Class 42:  Hunter Pony 12 H (123cms) to 13 H (133cms) - Riders under 14 Years of Age on 01/01/2016

Judges will break for 15 minutes and Ring 3 and Ring 4 will swap

Class 45:  Working Hunter Pony 13 H (133cms) to 14 H (143cms) - Riders to   be under 17 Years of Age on 01/01/2016 - A body protector must be worn by all riders - Height of fences not to exceed 90cms
Class 46:  Working Hunter Pony 12 H (123cms) to 13 H (133cms) - Riders to   be under 14 Years of Age on 01/01/2016 - A body protector must be worn by all riders - Height of fences approx 75cms
Championship for the Glenboy Sportsman Cup – open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 38 - 46         

                                                     Green Hunter Performance Classes
Class 47:  Four and Five Year Old Ridden Performance Pony – Height of jumps will not exceed 80cms 
Class 48: Six Year Old and Over Ridden Performance Pony - Height of jumps will not exceed 80cms   
Class 49:  Connemara Pony Performance – This class is open to adults and   children – Height of fences will not exceed 1m
A body protector must be worn by riders under 21 Years of Age in Classes 43 – 49. Simple snaffle bridles must be worn in Class 4

Class 48B: Performance Irish Draught Class - open to R.I.D. Horses Four Years Old and over - Approved as Class 1 or 2 in the Irish Draught Studbook - Fences not to exceed 95cms
Class 49C: Open Working Hunter - open to Horses Four Years Old and over   who are not a Grade A Showjumper or advanced event horse - Fences not to exceed 1.05m           

The Aidan Galligan Memorial Plate to the winner of the Working Hunter Championship - open to 1st and 2nd placed horses in   Classes 47 – 49
Judges will break for 15 minutes and Ring 4 and Ring 4 swap

                                             Green Hunter / Performance Horse Classes
Class 50:  Four Year Old Hunter - All Weight - Must have passport to verify age - Snaffle bridle only - These animals will not be ridden by the ride judge.
Class 51:  Ridden Irish Draught Class – Four Year Old and over - Open to ID Mares and Geldings approved as Class 1 or 2 in the Irish Draught Studbook.
Class 52: Light-Weight Hunter Four Year Old and over - Capable of carrying up to 13 Stone (83kg)
Class 53:  Middle-Weight Hunter Four Year Old and over - Capable of carrying 13 stone (83kg) to 14 stone (89kg)
Class 54:  Heavy-Weight Hunter Four Years Old and over - Capable of carrying 14 stone (89kg) and upwards
Class 55:  Small Hunter Four Years Old and over - over 148cms but not exceeding 158cms
Class 56:  Coloured Riding Horse - Four Years Old and over - over 148cms
Class 57:  Ridden Cob - over 148cms open to Lightweight and Heavyweight or Maxi Cobs
The Usher Challenge Cup for the Ridden Hunter Champion – open to 1st and 2nd prize winners in Classes 50 – 57

Class 58:  Four Year Old Ridden Sport Horse - Height of jumps will not exceed 90cms –  Riders must be 16 Years Old and over on 01/01/2016
Class 59:  Ridden Coloured Sport Horse - Height of jumps will not exceed 95cms – Riders must be 16 Years Old and over on 01/01/2016
Class 60: Five Year Old Ridden Sport Horse - Height of jumps will not exceed 1m – Riders must be 16 years and over on 01/01/2016         
Class 61:  Six Year Old and Over Ridden Sport Horse - Height of jumps will not exceed 1.05m – Riders must be 16 Years Old and over on 01/01/2016

These are fun classes for younger/novice children. Parental help and support outside & inside the ring is encouraged to make these classes a safe and enjoyable experience for all children.
(Entrants to Classes 67 - 81 are NOT eligible to enter Classes 38 - 46 in Ring 3)
Class 68: In Hand Pony Class – Handlers 7 Years Old and Under
Class 69:  In Hand Pony Class – Handlers 8 Years Old and Over
Class 70:  Best Turned out Pony & Rider (can be led) - This class can be split into under 7 Years Old and 8 Years Old and over if there are sufficient entries
Class 71:  Best Thelwell lookalike Pony (ridden)
Class 72:  The Pony the Judge would most like to take home
Class 73:  Best Bum Pony
Class 74: Longest Mane & Tail
Class 75:  Best 6 Legs
Class 76:  Best Fancy Dress -This class can be split into under 7 Years Old and 8 Year Old  and over if there are sufficient entries
Class 77:  Best Fancy Dress Cowboy, Cowgirl or Indian to ride the Oldcastle plains
Class 78:  Cradle Stakes / Starter Stakes - For riders who have not attained their 12th birthday – A body protector must be worn by all riders
Class 79:  Family Pony Handy Hunter – for children of any age – Riders must mount and dismount for the judge and jump a course of fences – A body protector must be worn by all riders
Class 80:  The Pony Power and Doggy Dash - jump the course of fences on your Pony and dismount and jump the course of fences with your dog on a lead - A body protector must be worn by all riders
Class 81:  The Bare Back Derby – A body protector must be worn by all riders
